I recommend to put the first two icons beside the adress bar and hide the Diigo bar. You can access to the most relevant features from there and you'll get more space for websites:

I have to say that I really like this service. I used to use del.icio.us and time after time I had no access to my bookmarks because of heavy traffic so they say on my internet service provider. Since I could access everything else - and I have cable internet - it didnt make any sense so I changed and I am very very happy with my new diigo service. I hope that I get to participate in future improvements with this service.

My online research is amazing, now that I have a way to keep track of where I've been, highlight the important points, and make notes to myself about what I was thinking when I highlighted. I couldn't be more impressed with a free application.

I love the fact that often when I go to a page that has a form that needs to be filled out, the little "public comments" sticky notes from other users often answer the questions that I have as I'm filling out the form. If you want to have fun, do a training presentation about Diigo--people love it! :-)

The crazy thing is that the only place I saw ANYTHING about the custom search is in a tweet - that it is being "phased out". It surprised me since amazing blogs like Lifehacker have raved on it.
  • rickdog

The custom search feature, one of the most useful in Diigo has been broken for a week now. Diigo is not making it a priority and it makes me wonder how much I can rely on Diigo at all for providing quality service. A lot of people use it and they are leaving us blowing in the wind.

  • r3d2dawn
    Richard Lloyd on 2009-09-30
Don't let this "Bookmark" button fool you. Its two buttons. The icon itself is a button, Quick Bookmark", which instantly saves your bookmark, I use this my self as the Read it Later since it performs the same function and has a few more features to it (additional tags, mark private, mark unread). When you clik it again it brings up the Bookmark window to make additional changes. I would like to see, however, a button/checkmark to remove the bookmark instead of having to clik the drop down arrow next to the "Bookmark" text button. I do not even use this anymore since It does not have its own icon and no indication on if you bookmarked a site or not. The Quic Bookmark does.

The toolbar works beautifully with Flock, and I'm using the 2.0 beta release. You can set it to "Icons Only" and then move them all up next to the icons in the Flock Toolbar, literally extending the functionality without losing any of the form. You have to move the icons individually, which is a bit of a pain, but the result is sweet!
