"Service learning is a form of experiential education in which students engage in, and reflect on, activities that address human and community needs. This article explores the natural integration between service learning and the use of information technology. Several examples are discussed from a community college in Hawai'i, where adult ESL students engaged in technology-related service learning projects such as teaching Internet skills to children or producing Web pages for community organizations. As these examples illustrate, information technology can serve as a medium both for carrying out service learning projects and also for reflecting on them" (Abstract).
