Amy AuldSummary: Bookr is a website that allows people to create short stories using preloaded images. When they are completed, students are then able to email them to whomever they would like. There are many images available for upload. The books are then saves on the website, or in the cloud. They are not downloaded.
How I would use it: I would use this as a way for my students to create a short summary about something that they read. Or I would use it for a creative assignment where students would retell a fable or myth as a children's book. I would also use this in a library for my students to create teasers for books that they have read and I would post the link for other students to view the books.
Purpose: The purpose of this website is to create short stories with simple images. It's like a much more simplified version of Shutterfly books. This is easier because the pictures are already on the website and the finished products do not take up any memory on computers.
Bias: There doesn't seem to be a bias, but the examples on the website are not great. There are also only so many pictures loaded on the site and students cannot upload their own.
Credibility: The creators of this website have made other interactive websites for students and adults to use. However, they are not part of a group of educators or a foundation. I don't think that it's too much of a concern because they are not providing any information for the students.
Currency: The website seems to run smoothly and is updated fairly often. The currency may come into question if there are not new photographs or pictures uploaded regularly.
Who wrote it?: "PimPamPum" is a group of people that create websites like Bookr for university and media advertising use. They pride themselves in creating ways for people to interact and add to the internet, not merely take in knowledge but create it.
Readability: The website is very easy to read and very approachable.
What about advertising?: There is no outside advertising. However, the creators of Bookr also advertise their other websites. A teacher or librarian would need to go through the other sites or block them depending on appropriateness. -

I think this has wonderful potential for online publishing, class books and collaborative writing projects with students. Flickr (free images) is a website that you can find a wealth of pictures and a class/individual can contribute their own too.
