CARLOS BASTELos hoax (bulos, en castellano) son mensajes que contienen noticias tan falsas como impactantes y que se transmiten por medios electrónicos, normalmente a través del correo, foros y en redes sociales.
Los hoax suelen ser mensajes anónimos, en los que no se cita ninguna fuente, que contienen una historia que llama rápidamente la atención del lector y que le anima a difundirla.
A pesar de que normalmente son inofensivos, la capacidad destructiva de los hoax los convierte en un interesante fenómeno de Internet.

The Museum of Hoaxes was established to educate consumers about the history of rudimentary deception through today with the use of advanced technology. This site exposes hoaxes and shows how ridiculous they can be. Credibility is shown through connecting links to websites for more information. This site can be found on the Librarian’s Index to the Internet and it is found to be an educational site. The website has been updated as of a month ago. The author of the website is Alex Boese and he has a master’s in the history of science. He has authored three books about hoaxes and has written for a number of magazines including the Smithsonian. The reading level for this site is about middle school but it does have a lot of pictures that younger students would appreciate. There is some advertising on the website for insurance.
The Museum of Hoaxes is actually a really museum but they have an extensive online museum complete with pictures throughout history depicting scams starting in 1700s up until the present.
This website is another good example of scams. Students will be introduced to fraudulent cases so that they enjoy them without being taken in or confusing them with factual information. This site would be used in teaching evaluation criteria for hoaxes and scams. -
