Books: Harold Bloom's 'The Western Canon' greatly enhanced my appreciation of good writing,not school ;-) ! My favourites are: Cervantes 'Don Quixote',Dante 'The Divine Comedy',Flaubert's 'A Sentimental Education',Balzac's 'Cousin Pons',John Fowles' 'The Magus',John Steinbeck's 'The Grapes of Wrath',Valdimir Nabokov's 'Lolita',Phillip Roth's 'Zuckerman Unbound' and Capote's 'In Cold Blood'. And Umberto Eco's 'Six Walks in the Fictional Woods' for theory!.
