"In February this year, month four of the genocide, I read an article in the Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar that stuck with me. Titled “Death of the Arab Spring Subject” (موت إنسان الربيع العربي), it argued that the Arab political subject who participated in the Arab Spring must die to allow the subject of Al-Aqsa Flood to take their place. That is, the subject that relied on human rights organizations, NGOs, and Western institutions should be put to rest. In its place, a new political subject in the Arab world would emerge—one proposing methods of organization, resistance, and steadfastness, embodying a refusal to submit to defeat, despite siege, oppression, and conspiracies. Whether true or false, it made me want to seriously grapple with the question of the state of the Arab political subject before and after Israel's genocidal assault on Gaza.

Ce film présente une vision totalement originale des rapports entre le Nord et le Sud. Il ne s'agit nullement de dénoncer pour la enième fois le Colonialisme, mais de faire table rase des idées préconçues, aussi bien sur le rôle de l'Occident que sur les réalités des sociétés non occidentales.


Il s'agit d'une "enquête sur quelques vérités au-dessus de tout soupçon", à travers laquelle nous découvrons que les grands problèmes d'aujourd'hui commencent avec le "Big Bang" des Lumières, l'invention des libertés individuelles, qui, exportées hors de l'Europe pour servir une volonté conquérante, vont y provoquer une formidable mutation, d'où naîtront à leur tour de nouvelles formes de Liberté.


Il s'agit d'un extraordinaire voyage dans le temps et dans l'espace (Inde, Egypte, Sénégal) afin de croiser les lieux et les regards, de mieux comprendre les tensions et les espoirs du monde d'aujourd'hui."
