Deepfakes and the crisis of knowing | UNESCO

"As deepfakes blur reality, education must go beyond detection, teaching students to navigate truth, knowledge, and AI-mediated uncertainty."

University of Delaware's First State AI Institute

"This initiative will invest in a state-of-the-art AI infrastructure to provide the computational power necessary to develop and deploy cutting-edge AI models, including large language models (LLMs). By investing in AI hardware and software, we will create a sustainable platform from which to create the FIRST STATE AI INSTITUTE at the University of Delaware, a hub of excellence that will integrate existing AI efforts, drive innovation, and position the University as a leader in AI technology."

The Un-Cheatable Assignment

"The first act is a cautionary tale about the failure of a purely technological fix—a frantic, reactive arms race that ended in a strategic dead end. But from this failure, a second act emerged as a quiet but profound pedagogical revolution, wherein educators and researchers began to ask a better set of questions. This has led us to our third and final act: the articulation of a new strategic imperative. An imperative that connects this new vision for the classroom directly to the durable, human competencies required to thrive in an AI-augmented world."

Has AI killed the case method? Teaching with cases in the age of AI

"The big concern surrounding AI and the case method seems to be that students might shortcut their learning by ‘getting the answers’ to case scenarios from AI. However, as all of our contributors were keen to press, the case method has never been about getting the right answers. Wilfrid Laurier University’s Meredith Woodwark told us, “It’s about learning the process of reaching decisions”. Particularly as there is rarely one right answer in business.

The case method teaches students the skills they will need in order to navigate complexity. Skills like critical thinking, risk management, and managing ambiguity."

Lucia

"

ChatGPT: Classroom friend or foe? | News | Ivey Publishing

"OpenAI’s ChatGPT has had quite a journey this year, revealing that up until this point we had only scratched the surface of what publicly available AI (artificial intelligence) can do to enhance creative work, research, and even learning. However, what was initially seen as a clever and resourceful chatbot, quickly started to be considered by some as a threat to academic integrity. But is that so?

In our efforts to find answers, we reached out to three faculty who have been following the development of AI tools, and particularly ChatGPT, since its inception. The result was a whole new perspective on what the recent widespread of this technology could mean for professors and how these tools might force the academic sector to re-evaluate what constitutes “cheating” and plagiarism."
