• With the announcement last night of Google App Engine, it's literally possible to build your entire web app on top of Google's vaunted infrastructure. It's already been possible to do that on top of Amazon's for some time now."
• So it's not surprising to me that the Y Combinator model is being adopted and adapted by others.
• Today, with web services like those from Google and Amazon, there potentially are cheaper, and far more scalable options.

And second, you can get a lot done on $25k now, particularly if you back young software engineers right out of school (or even in school) who can live for at least six months on $25k."

   If you think yourself as a developer and you can write programs using only one language, you is probably a very bad developer.

• However, Google App Engine has its limitations. For instance, it is not possible to create your own crawler or web-analyzer, as this class of software requires something that Google App Engine lacks: processing power. On the flip-side, with a request-driven model, the application only consumes resources when needed and therefore cost is linear to use.
