the AGILE approach (coming from software development) is a counter-trend to over-bloated research. AGILE developer and designer go immediately in prototyping and production. But the process is always flexible. Not aiming at a perfect product based on extensive research, but at a step by step process which continuously improves the product while developing it.
In every project it is wise to balance AGILE-like working with phases of research, reflection and planing.
