Flickr Peep show, Distributed Library, Robot Workshop
Flickr Peep Show - May 05 - Jun 05: "Mobile phone or internet social networks by means of visual communication linked through mob tags and or keywords… what?!" Flickr Peepshow was the second exhibition on the ground floor of the Post CS building. The windows were covered up except for keyholes you could peek through to view the installation. Viewers texted keywords to the server, and the server would send flickr pictures back that carried the same tags. An everyday tool is used to affect and control the screens. The viewer becomes part of the work, 'performing' the installation.

Distributed Library - Jun 08 - Now: Protesting the impasse between the Raad van Cultuur and Minister Plasterk concerning cultural subsidies, Mediamatic decided to give away all her books. The public was invited to come and have their pick from the entire collection, and to take care of the cultural capital themselves: Mediamatic could no longer do it on her own. The only condition was that the new owners register on Mediamatic's website, and promise to lend their books to another member on their request. A distributed library was created, and the value of creative capital upheld.

Kinetic and Sound Schmelzolan Robot Workshop - Sep 09: After their successful robot workshop in Mediamatic's Night Garden, Ralf Schreiber and Christian Faubel returned in 2009 to spread some more robot romance. In just a couple of hours they taught participants how to make their own, self-supporting robotic creatures. A circuit board, solar panel and motor formed the core of the kit. The robots are kinetic, which means to move when they are put in a light source. (An overhead-projector or sunlight). After you'd soldered the kit together, you could brighten up your new pal using Schmelzolan, synthetic granules that melt at 180 °C, and can be shaped into any desired form.
