R. Stannard talks about how to use Wix.com, which allows free website and free domain name as well. Website creation is a useful class or individual project and allows students an arena to create something beyond social media.

This visual index might give ideas for content- and project-based projects around the climate, geography, maps, environment, conservation, etc.

Great projects include drawing tools, poster design, and other ways to create and present student work.

This easy storyboard maker could be used for students to create their own cartoons, digital story, or storyboard a video production. Students can collaborate online within the application.
Free version allows only 3 storyboards a week to be created, and it has to be in one account, so the teacher would have to do a lot of scheduling. OK if you can rotate your group projects. A fuller version is still in one name, and is $5.95/month.

"Finding images in the Museum of New Zealand's gallery isn't the most intuitive process. You can enter a keyword to search, but if you're too specific you might not find what you're looking for. For example, enter "fish" and scroll through the results rather than entering "salmon" or "trout" to find images of fish. The other way to search is to open the advanced search settings in which you can choose a collection to browse through."

The National Education Network Gallery has thousands of copyright free image assets appropriate for students to use in presentations and projects. You can search by topic, and you can embed the gallery directly on your Website.

R. Byrne: "Wideo is a nice tool for creating Common Craft-style videos. You can create animated videos on Wideo by dragging and dropping clipart and text in storyboard frames. You set the position and animation sequence for each element in each storyboard frame. When you have completed your storyboards Wideo generates a video for you.
"This week Wideo added a new feature that allows you to build interactive buttons into each frame of your video. The buttons can be hyperlinked to any webpage that you like. When people are watching your video they can click the buttons to be taken to the webpage you want them to land on. For example, clicking the buttons in the video embedded below will take you to the website of my favorite animal rescue organizations."
Older students could, of course, create videos themselves to instruct others. The new interactive button might also lead to a quiz on Quizlet or in Google Docs, for example.
