This list contains many ideas for using word clouds. The first section contains tools and ideas for classroom use of Wordle. Wordle is one particular word cloud creator - well known, but not the only one. The second section contains links to other (non-Wordle) word cloud generators - the same ideas in the first section can be applied using any of these tools.

This is not a tool for creating word clouds, but instead an interactive site that displays most-used words for U.S. presidential inauguration speeches from 1789 to present. It illustrates how one can analyze speeches using word clouds - pasting text of speech into a tool for generating word clouds.
WORKS ON iPAD! Many others do not because they require Flash or Java. This one works on iPad, and you can then take a screenshot of it on iPad to use in other places.
