One of the most common questions teachers ask during training is "How can I integrate Smart Tutor with my classroom instruction?" Here are some tips that teachers have shared with me about how they use Smart Tutor with their students:
Interactive Whiteboards or Smart Boards"
"In an effort to collect and archive SmartBoard tips and lesson ideas, here is a cross post from an older entry at the TechConnect Blog.
What if we asked our students to become the teachers? What if we asked our students to articulate the process of something that they have learned? The SmartBoard hsoftware includes the capability of recording what is happening on the computer screen."

interactions between students, teachers and technology that occur in the class room using
interactive whiteboard technology.

"Welcome back to the ERC for School Year 2010-2011
Welcome back to another school year! We certainly hope you enjoyed your summer.
We had an extremely busy summer and we’d like to say, “Thanks” to everyone who participated in our Summer SMART Board Academy. We had an amazing time working with each of you, and we’re deeply grateful that you would choose to spend your summer with us. "
"For all the teachers out there who use Smart Notebook to develop customized lessons on the SMARTBoard, here's a short Notebook video tutorial on how to re-size more than one object by the exact same amount at the same time. I use this simple trick so much that I thought it was time I shared it with everyone here on my blog."
"SMARTBoards and the Fifty Nifty States and Capitals
BenfranklinToday, while searching for a Geography Notebook activity to highlight on the blog, I came across a simple United States map activity that utilized the U.S. background and the U.S. State images from the Gallery. I've seen and used these Gallery objects in the past and I really like them because the images fit perfectly into the U.S. background image.
What I didn't realize was that the background image has a special built-in feature - it actually "snaps" the state images into place if they are dragged close enough to the correct location. I'm not sure how I missed that before but I think it's pretty cool.
I found a wonderful interactive activity on the SMART Exchange called 50 States - Political Map created by C. Austin and added a page where the students drag the State names on to the map. I also included a solution page. Click here to download the Notebook file.
In addition to the U.S. Notebook activity, here are some good interactive sites intended to help students practice learning their States and Capitals.

"Using Interactive White Boards to Engage Students
Regardless of what brand your school is using, interactive white boards are a really valuable tool to get students up out of their seats and engaged in the learning. Users move objects, words, and text - providing a rich learning experience. The software that is provided with the board allows teachers to create multimedia presentations with templates and visual elements build right in as well as the ability to integrate media from other web resources. In addition, the media and the presentation can be saved and shared with students who need extra reinforcement at home or other teachers who's students are learning the same concepts. If you are new to teaching with IWB or you are an expert, check out this community of educators to find more resources and ideas. You also must check out Jim Hollis's blogand website!

On this wonderful Friday I’d like to share something fun with you! It’s a Facebook Page Template for SMART Notebook! I’ve seen the idea before around Twitter and on this blog, but I’ve never seen a template using SMART Notebook. So I decided to make one! Your students can create a Facebook page on a famous person, an artist, an inventor, or a character in a book or movie! Every year our 4th grade students do a project on a famous Alabamian. They normally complete a project using PowerPoint or Publisher, but this year I hope to use this template. I have a feeling they are going to LOVE it! This template can also be used to teach students how to safely use Facebook or just about the “purpose” of Facebook (without being blocked by your school filter!). I tried to make this template as simple as possible, so students should only edit the photos and the text in black. I’ll be adding my project guidelines once I complete them, so more details are to come. Download it now. Enjoy!
Update: I’ve included a worksheet to be used in conjunction with this activity. Please download the updated version to access the worksheet. You will find it in the Attachments Tab of the SMART Notebook file."
