Quest Atlantis :: Educators
Over the last four years, more than 20,000 children on four continents have participated in the project. We have demonstrated learning gains in science, language arts, and social studies and students have completed literally thousands of Quests, some of which were assigned by teachers and many of which were chosen by students to complete in their free time.

Welcome to LCSI
The constructivist philosophy believes that students excel by building and constructing for themselves the specific knowledge they need, rather than having a teacher dictate numerous facts. Teachers play an important role as knowledge facilitators.

Architect Studio 3D, from the Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust
As a math and communication arts activity/lesson I have my students design a home with the help of Frank Lloyd Wright! Architect Studio 3D is an interactive site which allows the student to select a client, location, floor plan, and more. The students keep a Journal, in Word, as we work through the project. They are to log all decisions and give reasons for the decisions. They design the home of their client’s dream including all interior and exterior finishes, and furnishings. The house can be displayed as a floor plan, or three dimensional. Using the arrows on the keyboard students can move through the house and it’s location: a virtual tour. They save the house to “share” using a pseudonym and also print the floor plan. We make two copies of the plans; one for the bulletin board, and one for a class book. We also scan the plans to save in their Journals. When the houses are completed, we open the saved projects and share them first using the SMART Board. The students take us on a guided tour, explaining their work. I usually have the students create a rubric for the final project as a class using the guidelines from the site. I have rubrics created for various stages, and components. For instance they are graded weekly on their Journals; there will be grades for the math components, a grade for the final presentation, and a grade for the final project. Some years I have the students create a budget using Excel, which is a separate grade as well.through it in 3D, and then share it with the world. You can also learn more about architecture, past and present, and explore Frank Lloyd Wright's life and work.

Welcome to Webkinz® - a Ganz website
Webkinz pets are lovable plush pets that each come with a unique Secret Code. With it, you enter Webkinz World where you care for your virtual pet, answer trivia, earn KinzCash, and play the best kids games on the net!
Webkinz, my daughter uses this site to play and earn money to feed, house, and entertain her pet horse. We purchased a Webkinz stuffed animal that came with a code to log on to the website where she was able to name the pet and print off a birth certificate. It is amazing for a pre-k girl to learn responsibility and have fun in the process. It has also helped her pick up some reading skills and practice with her numbers. -

Blabberize.com! - Blabberize Your Pictures
Blabberize is a fun tool for the kids to produce a presentation. You download any photo to the site and then create a mouth on the photo. Then the site has you do a voice over (I have my kids to a short research paper and the photo has to have something to do with their research) they record a reading of their research project. The site put the picture the mouth and the reading together and the photo' s mouth actually moves to the voice of the students. Check it out.
