Kenneth LeFebvre's List: Second Amendment Issues

  • Feb 25, 09

The City of Cleveland has been defying the Ohio Supreme Court since 2007, harassing law-abiding citizens against the direct order of the Supreme Court. Finally somebody is standing up for the little guys, to directly sue the City itself.

    • Buckeye Firearms Foundation, Inc., an Ohio not-for profit foundation, filed a lawsuit today in the Common Pleas Court of Cuyahoga County, Ohio seeking a temporary restraining order and permanent injunction to stop the City of Cleveland from prosecuting law-abiding gun owners under local ordinances that restrict gun ownership and concealed carry (CCW).
    • The legislature recognized that, like motor vehicle laws, it makes sense for firearms laws to be uniform throughout the state.

    • The Bush brownshirt   regime revealed itself as lawless, the worst criminal organization   in American history.
    • President   Obama doesn’t want to hold Bush accountable for his crimes and violations   of the Constitution, because Obama wants to retain the powers that   Bush asserted.

    • “I would remind you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice. And let me remind you also that moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue.” Barry Goldwater 1964
    • JPFO’s “Goody Guns” project really started to smoke some of these weak-willed fence sitters out of their nooks and crannies.

This is why there have been record sales of firearms in the past few months! Better arm yourself NOW, or you'll be defenseless when all this gets signed into law.

    • Congressman Eliot Engel, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere, wrote a letter signed by 53 Members of Congress urging President Obama to “return to enforcement of the law banning imports of assault weapons, which was previously enforced during the administrations of Presidents George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton.” The letter was also led by Congressman Michael Castle (R-DE) and Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY).
      • See? Republicans are just as bad as Democrats.

      Add Sticky Note
    • “The alarming prevalence of imported assault weapons in the US has put our nation’s police officers at risk.
      • Legally imported weapons only put criminals at risk. A legal ban will have no effect on illegal imports.

The States are NOT regions of the Federal government. They are independent, sovereign States... it's about time they stand up for their rights against the encroaching Hamiltonianism.

    • a rebellion against the growing dominance of federal control is beginning to spread at the state level.
    • "This particular 111th Congress is the biggest bunch of over-reachers and underachievers we've ever had in Congress,"

Obama's public agenda for his "Urban Policy" which includes a section on Crime and Gun Violence, wherein he declares his intent to further erode our Second Amendment rights.

    • Obama and Biden would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information
      • This amendement authorizes local law enforcement agencies to access the gun trace database, when they are investigating a crime. The only restriction is that it would deny them access for "fishing expeditions." To repeal the Tiahrt Amendment would be to give all LEOs the ability to harrass law-abiding citizens who happen to have weapons. If a person is involved in a crime, there is nothing in the Tiahrt Amendment that would prevent investigators from accessing the gun trace database.

    • closing the gun show loophole

    • "The   strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and   bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves from tyranny   in government."   ~ Thomas Jefferson
    • Holder has   stated his belief that no one under the age of 21 should ever have   access to a firearm. Of course he would not extend this prohibition   to servants of the state, specifically those in the military. He   would have no problem implementing the desires of the state on others,   at gunpoint.

Many people crave a Utopia, which in essence is perhaps understandable as there is so much in life that can be deemed as undesirable. However, if realism is employed it will be seen that a true Utopia is an impossibility - something the pursuers of everything peace and love seem to overlook. The human animal has traits which can include many undesirable characteristics - some are minor and in the category of every-day nuisance - but there are others which go far beyond and into the realms of pure evil.

    • My neighbors   are the salt of the earth, and although they probably would not   recognize the term, are classic libertarians. They take care of   their own affairs, never bother anyone, and suddenly appear if help   is needed. They recognize government for what it is: an albatross   around the neck of freedom and a resource-eating machine of oppression.
    • People of honest   character have no problem with the private ownership of firearms   by honest citizens.

Either gun control advocates are IGNORANT, or they are TREACHEROUS. There really is no other alternative, if you remove emotions from the discussion, and focus on logic.

    • What a crock;   believing the fantastically wealthy drug cartels actually secure   their weapons from America is analogous to taking a hamburger to   a steak dinner. The drug cartels use their millions, if not billions,   to purchase some of the finest weaponry that can be had, far exceeding   the firepower of their state-armed opponents in both Mexico and   the US.
    • To believe these weapons came from weapons that are currently legal   in this country is preposterous and an obvious lie.

    • 65 million potential customers for black market guns is an awfully attractive business opportunity. And used-to-be gun owners will be seriously motivated buyers.

I'll have to see if I can get a job in Switzerland!

    • The country has a population of six million, but there are estimated to be at least two million publicly-owned firearms, including about 600,000 automatic rifles and 500,000 pistols.
    • They are given an M-57 assault rifle and 24 rounds of ammunition which they are required to keep at home.

I have been asked, "What's up with all the gun talk lately?"

This article answers the "why now?" part of that question.

So, you ask, "Why does the Second Amendment matter so much?" The answer to that is simple. The Second Amendment is the ONLY guarantee that We the People have that our government will feel any fear, at all, in abrogating the remainder of our rights under the Constitution.

If we lose our Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms, there will be no reason for the government to even pay lip service to the First Amendment, or the Fourth Amendment, or any of the rest of the Constitutional protections we think we enjoy.

    • Supporters   of the 2A best come to their senses and realize very quickly that   the only support we have for the right to keep and bear arms is   ourselves. Depending on others, especially politicians and judges   will prove fatal. In the words of Karl Rove, "Where else are   we going to go?" The fall at the end of the ride is going to   be rough.

Finally... in all the "doom and gloom" news out there, here's some really good news for Ohioans! Somebody in Columbus is actually listening to us. And that is "Change We Can Believe In!"

    • Buckeye Firearms Association has now received word from ODOT Assistant Legal Counsel Heather Sullivan that "the districts have reported all of the signs are down", and in fact that the last signs were removed earlier today.
    • we are pleased to be able to report that these state facilities should now be in full compliance with state law.
    • I dare say that too many people have no clue as to what America is and what makes America great
    • Is America going down the YouTubes, and, if so, why? I believe the answer is yes and I believe the reason is because we no longer know who we are or what we stand for.

    • It’s to be noted that Ted Bundy killed roughly as many people without a gun.
    • This is the same Eric Holder who told Judge Andrew Napolitano that Elian Gonzalez “was not taken at the point of a gun.”  The pictorial evidence on the left makes Holder’s claim very difficult to swallow.
