The ridiculous limit that prevents Google Groups members from replying to groups.
Can I reply to older posts in the archive? — Google Groups Help

More often than not, the answer is
"No. I can not reply to posts".

Truly, Google Groups prevents me from replying to most messages.

  - Impossible to reply after sixty days — thread breakages and other problems — madness!

  - is *not* acceptable. In this way, threads are
    
    BROKEN.
  - Please, think standards. At least, think IMAP.
