use of web 2.0 tools and why you are here
-
- The web is the platform.
- Sharing is inherent to the tool.
- Tools facilitate communication and interaction.
- Consider the October
2005 Edutopia responses to "What technology is most effective in the
classroom?" - Of the 10, only 1 references student creation of multimedia products (#1),
the rest focus on sustaining (rather than disruptive) technology uses to support
traditional content/teacher centered instruction. - Education is a conversation not an exercise in regurgitation on
demand. - Education is a journey, not a football game or a track race.
- Experiences and relationships transform perceptions and thereby
transform people.
Characteristics of (most) Web 2.0 or Read/Write Web tools:
Web 2.0 represents a fundamental revolution in communication no
less important or transformative than the invention of the Guttenburg printing
press. The conversation is global, ongoing, and you are invited. Hold
onto your hats, because "you ain't seen nuthin' yet!" - The web is the platform.
