The words on this website are not filtered so you may easily find inappropriate words. Use CAUTION if sharing this in a classroom. Explore WordCount as a class. What parts of speech are the most common words? Are related words near each other in order? Challenge students to write without using the 10 most common nouns, verbs, etc. Explore lower ranked words, challenge students to use them more often in writing. Have students create a visual "weekly word challenge" for themselves of 20-30 lesser-used words to try to use in the course of a week.
