Brigitte PottEine bei PloS One veröffentlichte Studie hat über drei Jahre hinweg 4,6 Mrd. Tweets von über 63 Mio. Menschen ausgewertet. Zwischen September 2008 und September 2011 wurden mehr als 46 Mrd. Wörter untersucht. Die Forscher kommen zum Ergebnis, dass die Twitter-User immer unglücklicher werden. "Es sind zwar immer mehr Menschen online vernetzt, die Motive dafür sind aber sehr unterschiedlich. Das kann bei Studien zu einer selbstselektierten Stichprobe führen. Ich würde deshalb nicht unterschreiben, dass solche Studien repräsentativ für die Gesamtbevölkerung sind", sagt Oswald Kothgassner von der Universität Wien http://univie.ac.at
Die US-Studie erhebt die Glückseligkeit der Menschen, indem 10.000 Schlüsselwörtern ein gewisser Wert zugeteilt wird. "Lachen" beispielsweise hat einen hohen Wert von 8,50. "Gier" hat 3,06 und "Terrorist" 1,30. So können Tweets systematisch untersucht werden.
