ew evolution is the multi-touch that works under rigorous conditions. Even though multi-touch screens are widely popular on today's consumer phones and tablets the design principles for industrial applications and demanding environments are different for those in the rather controlled consumer environment for mobile phones and tablets. When using a device under rugged conditions - cold, raining, wearing gloves, heav

Michael DrumMany problems involve complex social and political issues. As a result, designers have become applied behavioral scientists, but they are woefully undereducated for the task.

Mathieu PlourdeI argue in favor of complexity, against the simple-minded notion that things should be simple. Simplicity is boring. We want richness and depth in our lives. Moreover, the world and our activities are inherently complex, so the tools we use must match that complexity. Arguments against compexity are misplaced, i argue (see my essay "Simplicity is not the answer.") We don't want confusion, perplexity, and confusion. Thatis, we want our complex tools and activities to be understandable.
