These are the national educational technology standards for students as provided by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) in 2007.

I take this to mean that they know to use Excel over Word for number crunching. And they know how to debug an invalid url, etc

Students will gather information on marine life from different sources, and then process them into a final project, of their choosing. (Powerpoint, visual aid, etc. accompanied by a paper.)
