jjensen317This website is aimed to teach elementary school children the basics of art. It has three different ways to learn about art. You can “Explore the Toolkit,” “See Artists in Action,” or use the encyclopedia. The Tool Kit has 6 different topics you can choose from. These are: line, color, space, shape, balance, and movement/rhythm. These all have subtopics you can pick from like tints, depth or line. Once you chose a topic you are shown an animated video showing the concept, then you look for examples of this in other works of art the websites provide, and finally you get to make your own art using the concept. I really like this because it fully goes over individual concepts of visual art in an easy and fun way. I also like how you can watch artists actually make beautiful pieces of work. This would inspire children to want to learn more about art so they can become amazing artists as well. This website can help you teach Illinois Learning standard 25A.1. Recognize various types of lines in given art works (e.g., thick/thin, long/short, straight/curved).
