amanda WhittonThis is a great resource to be able to use at any time. It covers all content strands and has the NSW K6 Mathematics Syllabus (2002) embedded within it. Their are a variety of activities, one I particularly like is the use of a chalk ven diagram on the floor with the headings certain, possible and impossible. Using the diagram students discuss and record their ideas on strips of paper of what is certain, possible or impossible to happen. Van de Walle et al. (2010 p.456) states that "The emphasis should be on exploration rather than rules and formal definitions".
