a very important quote from google's CEO
"The goal of the company is not monetize anything. The goal is to change the world and monetization is a technique to do that."
After seeing an example of OLPC and Classmates(which is a very cheap laptop released by Intel.), I came to see that for-profit organization is much stronger and sounder than non-profit organizations. Even OLPC, which was started by a MIT professor and has gained a lot of popularity and momentum, has failed to do well because of a lot of issues sprung upon because of the fact that they are non-profit.
So many people might argue against a for-profit company talking about changing the world, what we need embrace is that only they can do that.
"We're not building a phone, we're building a Linux-based OS, which is likely to be quite different form the iPhone," Schmidt said. "Both Apple and Google believe the mobile space is going to be very large . . . Each company has a different approach, and Google Apple has a significant partnership with Google, including [the use of] Google Maps . . . "
