• The mount command lets you specify a mount_point:

   

  sudo mount -t smbfs smb://hostname/documents /Volumes/documents-foo 

   

  Just change documents-foo to whatever you want it to be called, and note that that directory must already exist (create it with sudo mkdir /Volumes/documents-foo if it doesn't)

   

   

   

     

       

    

    

• IMPORTANT The field separate in synthetic.conf must be a tab character. The most common cause of problems with this is editors that insert a sequence of spaces when you press the Tab key

• What I do is just add a cron that runs every minute. There is very little system resources for when there isn't anything to do so just run it every minute. If it finds it, it re-maps it to the proper location.
