Health & Community Services Workforce Council's List: Vocational Education and Training

This issues paper canvasses the follwing aspects of Australia's future economic situation to conclude that vocational pathways are essentuial in good economic times as well as hard. The topics covered are the employment intensity of growth, the quality of jobs created, imbalances in the education system, a new approach to productivity, human capability and the importance of education.

This report on "The Impact of the recession on women" published in August is the focus of consultations in the last quarter of 2009. It is particularly important as a critique for the impact of policy on employment in the health and community services industries.

This volume contains four essays that demonstrate the application of theories on policy analysis and development in the context of vocational education and training (VET) in Queensland. The essays address four areas of strategic intent from the Queensland Skills Plan (2008).\nThese essays were prepared as the final assessment task by a group of twenty practitioners from public and private VET providers in Queensland, Australia. They studied a postgraduate unit on Policy Analysis and Development offered by the Faculty of Education, Queensland University of Technology. The views are those of the authors and should not be attributed to the Department of Education and Training, Queensland.

The purpose of this site is to inform and keep up-to-date the members, associates and stakeholders of vocational education and training in schools with the work of the national peak body, VETnetwork Australia.

The revisions to the AQF are designed to build confidence in qualification outcomes. They will improve student pathways both within and between the education sectors and the workplace, enhance the mobility of graduates through increased recognition of the value of Australian qualifications and enable Australian qualifications to be mapped against those of other countries. They are also designed to ensure that the AQF is contemporary, flexible, will take Australia’s education system into the future and at the same time support quality
