This is a great personal website from Dr Erik Leipoldt. He goes into great detail explaining the importance of sustainable (alternative) energy sources and how they work. He also goes into great detail of how these sources provide us the energy we need without impacting our environment. There is great detail in each section and a great amount of information provided.
This site provides information about NASA's contribution to the discovery and monitoring of global warming. They provide information and interactives to show the impact of global warming on our climate and the causes of global warming.
The NESEA site provides information about how to use sustainable (renewable) energy sources to power our homes. They also offer resources to educators to incorporate activities in the classroom to promote the use of alternative energy. They also give examples of how we can use green technology to improve our homes and reduce our carbon footprint.
The NOAA site provides information about global warming in regards to climate change and ocean observations. They explore how climate change has been measured and how the global climate is changing in response to global warming.
The EPA offers great resources to help anyone understand global warming, the greenhouse effect, and climate change. They offer information on government policy and changes we can make to help reduce our impact on the environment. There is a great kids section which provides great information in an easy to use and understand format.
The Nature Conservancy provides excellent information which is easy to use and relevant. They explain how we impact global warming and our carbon impact on the atmosphere. They also include a calculator to help us see our impact at home or work. There are resources to help us reduce our carbon emissions also.
This site has great links and resources to guide us through understanding renewable energy and how they work. It explains each energy source and provides links which go into greater detail on each energy source.
This is a great site which provides information about carbon footprints and how we impact the environment. It also has a calculator which tells us how much carbon we produce each year in our homes. There are resources to help us reduce our footprint and explanations of alternate energy and ways we can reduce our footprint inexpensively.
The National Wildlife Foundation does an excellent job of explaining global warming and the effects it is having on the environment. Their primary concern, animals, is directly related to the increasing temperature of earth. As the temperature increases animal habitats change and are destroyed. The NWF is providing information to help us understand our impact on the homes of animals around the world.
This site shows how GE is attempting to change how we receive power using alternative sources. GE is an industry leader in the alternative energy campaign and they are developing more efficient ways to harness renewable energy. The site has great explanations of the technology they are developing and the impact it will have on our future.
This site provides great explanations of questions students frequently ask. They can see responses from respected individuals in the field to these questions, and find ways te NRDC is helping to increase the use of alternative energy to reduce the impact we have on global warming. They also offer information on how we can improve our "green" lifestyle to reduce our carbon output.
This site helps kids understand how global warming and the greenhouse effect work with interactivities. They can explore the cause of each phenomenon and why it is important to understand how it will effect them. They can also explore how alternative energy sources help reduce greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and slow the global warming process.
This is a great kids site to help them understand what the greenhouse effect is and how it impacts our global climate. Kids interact with an easy to use interface and navigation. They can explore what the greenhouse effect is, how it effects them, and how they can help reduce their impact on global warming.
This is a great site that provides information about how using energy efficient technology and simple chenges in life style can impact energy use. It explains how the government is helping individuals overcome the barriers of using fossil fuel power to incorporate renewable resources for power. It also has a kids section to help them understand the importance of energy efficiency.
This site is great to help kids understand renewable energy sources and how renewable energy can help reduce the effects of fossil fuels on the atmosphere and environment. The content is very user friendly and oriented for children. It is easy to navigate and understand, and is perfect for classroom use.
NREL is the governments lab for developing and implementing new and innovative sources of renewable energy. NREL supports effort to decrease reliance on fossil fuel sources for energy to help clean the atmosphere and slow the process of global warming. They provide informatin and explanations on current projects and tehnology available.
This website from the University of Utah provides explanations of the types of alternative energy available. It breaks the sources down and provides links which explore the possibilites of each energy source.
Climate Trust is an organization who seeks to offset the amount of carbon produced through fossil fuels and utilize environmentally friendly methods of energy production. They provide funding for projects to help install and utilize systems for powering large scale projects.
This is a great site which contains the Ecologic Footprint of several nations around the world, including major cities. This site also includes a calculator to find your individual footprint. Lots of interesting resources, especially the fact that the United States doesn't participate in this program or initiative!
How much land area does it take to support your lifestyle? Take this quiz to find out your Ecological Footprint, discover your biggest areas of resource consumption, and learn what you can do to tread more lightly on the earth.
This website describes what a carbon footprint is and how individuals can use the information about their carbon footprint to reduce their impact on global warming.
