Whoelscher's List: Author websites

• • Photos...what better way to connect with an audience and show who your favorite author is as a human being. We all like looking at photo albums and this is a great way to show what it's like behind the scenes visually.

• • Simple color scheme (black, white, and gray) and lots of white space.
• • aweber sign-up form script
• • Too much home page text? Could the testimonials be a sidebar widget?
    
    Also, comments on the home page? This could get tricky in terms of moderation, but it shows engagement with readers.
• • Topics: Good for navigation and SEO...would almost like to this as a more visible menu for navigation...perhaps below the header image. 
• • Progress bars for works in progress: Great for fans anxious to see the next book in a series...not sure what the value would be for new writers without an audience though.
    
    Is this updated manually or is she using a plugin? Would love to know what it is.
