Sooby Says: This article is a great summary of what happens within the body when acid base balance is derranged. It also provides you with a quick way to approach arterial blood gases. It also gives you some of the signs and symptoms of acidosis and alkalosis. There are some links to good articles on to specific acid base disorders (respiratory acidosis, metabolic alkalosis etc) which are very useful and are not addressed individually in this article.
