I LOVE that in the consonant video, Dr. Meier points out that we should not add vowel sounds to consonants. In other words, we should not teach the /s/ sound as /suh/--it should be /ssss/. This is such in important point that many teachers do not know. Although she doesn't explain, when we add the extra sounds (typically "uh"), it makes decoding words more difficult. Example: cuh a nuh (c-a-n) would actually rhyme more with "banana" than it would rhyme with "pan." (Thanks for this example, Linda Clinton!)
