• Some Examples of The Seven Spirits of God.. occurring in Buddhism

Then there are the Seven Spirits of God.. occurring in Buddhism

However.. in Buddhism.. there is no god concept.. instead.. the “God” concept.. is exchanged.. for the idea of the.. “True Self”.

Personally.. I understand these two concepts to be interchangeable.. and there is evidence in the bible to support this.

Carl Jung also noticed that the mandalas.. used in meditations.. sometimes had a god at their center.. and sometimes the image of a human.. so the two symbols seemed to be representing the same idea.

Carl Jung and the Mandala

Also.. in Buddhism.. just like the bible.. symbols like.. throne.. king.. kingdom.. etc.. are consistently associated with these seven core human values.. in order to lay stress on the fact that they occupy the highest position in religion.. I guess.

Let Buddha speak for himself..

---------

THE SPIRIT OF LOVING KINDNESS

"GREATER THAN ALL RELIGIOUS ACCOMPLISHMENTS IS LOVING KINDNESS"

“As the light of the moon is sixteen times stronger than the light of all the stars, so loving kindness is sixteen times more efficacious in liberating the heart than all other religious accomplishments taken together.”

"By the practice of loving kindness I have attained liberation of heart, and thus I am assured that I shall never return in renewed births. I have even now attained Nirvana."

"Gifts are great, the founding of viharas is meritorious, mediations and religious exercises pacify the heart, comprehension of the truth leads to Nirvana, but greater than all is loving kindness.”

---

THE SPIRIT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

"THE KINGDOM OF RIGHTEOUSNESS WITH ITS THRONE OF TRUTH"

"The throne of truth is righteousness; and love and justice and good-will are its ornaments."

"Righteousness is the place in which truth dwells, and here in the hearts of mankind aspiring after the realization of righteousness, there is ample space for a rich and ever richer revelation of the truth."

"Truly, the Blessed One has founded the kingdom of righteousness. The Blessed One has moved the earth; he has set the wheel of Truth rolling, The kingdom of Truth will be preached upon earth; it will spread; and righteousness, good-will, and peace will reign among mankind."

---

THE SPIRIT OF JUSTICE

"KEEP TO THE PATH OF JUSTICE & RIGHTEOUSNESS"

"Swerve not from the path of justice and righteousness and thou wilt outshine the royal glory of queens on the throne."

"Learn to distinguish between Self and Truth. Self is the cause of selfishness and the source of evil; truth cleaves to no self; it is universal and leads to justice and righteousness."

"He whose intentions are righteousness and justice, will meet with no failure, but be successful in his enterprises and his success will endure."

---

THE SPIRIT OF WISDOM

"WISDOM SHOULD BE CENTRAL TO ALL RELIGIOUS TEACHINGS"

"To acquire this state of mind, wisdom is the one thing needful. To neglect wisdom will lead to failure in life. The teachings of all religions should centre here, for without wisdom there is no reason."

"True wisdom can be acquired by practice only. Practise the truth that your brother is the same as you. Walk in the noble path of righteousness and thou wilt understand that while there is death in self, there is immortality in truth."

"The wisdom of the Tathagata is the sun of the mind."

---

THE SPIRIT OF PEACE

"RELIGIOUS WISDOM BRINGS PEACE FOREVER"

"Religious wisdom lifts a man above the pleasures and pains of the world and gives him peace everlasting."

"May thy country enjoy peace and prosperity, and may wisdom be shed upon thy rule like the brightness of the noon day sun. May thy royal power be strong and may righteousness be the sceptre in thine hand."

"And when the enemy is overcome, the Dharma-raja, the great king of truth, will bestow upon all his disciples the most precious crown which jewel brings perfect enlightenment, supreme wisdom, and undisturbed peace."

---

THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH

"RELIGIOUS TRUTH IS THE HIGHEST TREASURE OF ALL

"He who seeks religious truth, which is the highest treasure of all, must leave behind all that can concern him or draw away his attention, and must be bent upon that one goal alone."

"Buddha, O Blessed One, O Holy One, O Perfect One, thou hast revealed the truth,
and the truth has appeared upon earth and the kingdom of truth has been founded.
I now desire to found the kingdom of truth upon earth, to give light to those who are enshrouded in darkness and to open the gate of deathlessness."

"Trust in truth, ye that love the truth, for the kingdom of righteousness is founded upon earth. The darkness of error is dispelled by the light of truth."

---

THE SPIRIT OF FREEDOM

"RELIGIOUS TEACHING HAS ONLY ONE FLAVOUR - EMACIPATION"

"The king of the law has come forth to rescue from bondage all the poor, the miserable, the helpless."

"The Buddha found no satisfaction in these teachings. He replied: 'People are in bondage, because they have not yet removed the idea of the ego. As the great ocean has only one taste, the taste of salt, so my doctrine has only one flavour, the flavour of emancipation.'"

Yet.. how many religions are actually teaching this.. ?
• an interesting logic - 3rd and 4th are contradictory - ah however buddha is referring to sense desires causing sufering however loving kindness is a well-wishing and this is not sense desire in the negative way it is in the well-wishing way see 2.00

• one may consider if the buddha believe in one god

• 3 more sticky notes...
• an agnostic religion

• buddhist meditation

• Re: awakened consciousness - he refers to the use of mindfulness in the conditioned world and this if good but says the buddha intended not so much that we use mindfulness but that we are mindul (awake) - not i need to do this in order to become something or to cope as much as to 'know' it... - consciousness is not thinking - it does exclude it but it is not attached to it... - it is at least remarkable that i have been thinking about tthe idea of this using of mindfulness or the I as something to help us cope in the world and alongside the more notion of awareness of moment without attachement to the use of it or any particular outcome or product of knowing (awakening) or noting...

Add Sticky Note
• One translation of the Buddha’s teachings on loving kindness reads, in part, as follows:

This is what should be done
By one who is skilled in goodness,
And who seeks the path of peace:
Let them be able and upright,
Straightforward and gentle in speech.
Humble and not conceited,
Contented and easily satisfied.
Unburdened with duties and frugal in their ways.
Peaceful and calm, and wise and skillful,
Not proud and demanding in nature …
… Let none deceive another,
Or despise any being in any state.
Let none through anger or ill-will
Wish harm upon another.
Even as a mother protects with her life
Her child, her only child,
So with a boundless heart
Should one cherish all living beings.
