I coauthored the section of the revised Vermont Grade Expectations for Information Technology - Creativity and Innovation. these standards were based on the NETS-Student standards and include performance indicators by grade clusters, along with examples, tools, and scenarios
I started creating student leadership teams in the late 90's. This student tech leadership team built the school's web server, provided tech support in the days where tech support did not exist in schools, and also lead many amazing school and community projects with technology. As I moved into middle school learning environments, I started a student technology leadership program which I called Tech Savvy Kids. It focused on developing leadership skills in our students, but used technology as the vehicle. It included summer camps, leadership training, field trip, internships, community service opportunities, and more.
I've been working with student portfolios for more than 15 years years, and thanks to archives of WayBacKMachin, I am able to locate some of my students early eportfolio work, my teaching materials and rubrics. Recently I had the opportunity to reflect on what I've learned about eportfolios over the past 10 years and came to the conclusion that there is no substitute for sweat equity in the process of adopting eportfolios. It's not the product, but the process that matters.

Facilitate and Inspire Learning and Creativity
Examples of facilitating and inspiring student learning and creativity
Using blogs with students in 2002 as part of the Thinking, planning, reflection process. Students had their own blog to reflect on and document their journey. Here is an example of mine. Every night I would read the student blogs and create coach them by adding notes on my own blog. Each day they would come to class and start by looking at the blog, proceed to their own learning, and end with a 5 minute update to their own blog. (not so innovative, except that this was in 2002 - (note the use of Xanga - one of the earliest blog platforms.
Example of early work with wikis to promote collaboration with students and teachers. An art teacher and guidance counselor use this wiki to collaborate with each other and provide directions and unit structure for their students
Using Google sites to conduct a Tech Tools Inquiry, not only helped us become a learning organization, constructing and sharing knowledge in house, they have also made it possible for some outside our organization to learn with us
