Be Funky is a tool that I was reminded of on Friday when a reader asked me for a tool to create avatars. Be Funky is a simple tool for turning digital photographs into digital comics. The image you see to the left is a cartoonized image of myself and Ernie Easter taken at NECC 2009.\n\n\n\n\nApplications for Education\nBe Funky is a simple and fun way to create comic-style avatars for students to use on blogs or other networks. Students could also use Be Funky to create a comic strip by converting and saving images to arrange in a story.

Kickfly explained
Last week Animoto announced a partnership with LIFE to bring new collections of imagery to Animoto users. Animoto users can find images from LIFE in the categories of Travel and Animals. LIFE is also using Animoto's technology on their website to create great videos like this one about ducks.
Just follow these three steps:
1. Upload clips from your camera or phone (iPhone 3GS anyone??), or use some from our collection (thanks to iStockphoto and Getty Images).
2. Choose your highlights. You can choose highlights of up to 10 seconds each, though we recommend using only 3-5 seconds as that works best within the flow of an Animoto video.
3. Create the rest of your video as normal, and you're done.
