    • Normal people do not understand what CPU architectures or binary instruction sets are. There is going to be confusion here either way. But everyone is going to be able to understand the difference between old-style Windows desktop apps and new-style Metro apps. Just look at them.

      • Apple had rosetta to help users with the transition. Microsoft has no emulation solution, plus, they are not transitioning but having both at the same time.

How do you expect users to differentiate.

    • Microsoft promises that even on Intel machines which support classic Windows software, if you don’t launch the Windows desktop, none of that code even loads, and you’ll get the performance benefits of Metro’s non-legacy design.
      • Apple gets something that nobody else seems to get.  Let's call it the self-inflicting-pain factor. Like if you deliberately decide to jailbreak you're phone for more functionality and freedom. You would think that being able to change colour schemes, the overhaul layout of apps, convenient buttons everywhere and so on is a great idea. But after a while you get really unhappy with the experience you're getting from using the phone because it is no longer uniform, consistent and fluid, the very things that Apple works so hard to achieve. You have now lost the P-factor and would rather give up that extra freedom to have that sensation back.

Windows 8 tablet users will fall into the same trap. They will want to open the desktop to do something that cannot be done on Metro and eventually find  themselves in a messy environment.

I think they need to make up their mind, decide what they wanna be. But for as long as they send the "indecisive" message (that includes CEO and products), neither users or companies are gonna give them much credit.
