• Apple doesn’t care about the pro space.

    

  The goal for every Apple software product is to sell more hardware. Even the Mac operating system is just trying to get people to buy more Mac computers.

  • I don't agree! Apple sells Mac Pros for some reason. 
    This is a product that when finished will appeal indeed to Pros. Why they did not wait I have no idea., since neither pros or amateurs where crying out for a new version. Must mean though that updates are still some time away.

  • A lot of people said maybe Apple should have release a product under a different name.

• Can I import projects from Final Cut Pro 7 into Final Cut Pro X?

• Does Final Cut Pro X support multicam editing?

   

  Not yet, but it will.

• Can Final Cut Pro X export XML?

   

  Not yet, but we know how important XML export is to our developers and our users, and we expect to add this functionality to Final Cut Pro X.

• Does Final Cut Pro X support OMF, AAF, and EDLs?

   

  Not yet. When the APIs for XML export are available, third-party developers will be able to create tools to support OMF, AAF, EDL, and other exchange formats.

• • So you should really buy FCP X if you want to buy Avid or Premiere.

  • Avid has also taken advantage of Apple's issues, once again offering Final Cut Pro users more than 50% off of its Media Composer software, pricing it at $995 compared to the usual $2,295 download price and $2,495 boxed price. The discounted pricing is available for existing pre-Final Cut Pro X users.

    You can just imagine how the suits are feeling: "We give you a revolutionary for £180 pounds and you are still unhappy!"
    
    But Apple took features out of an existing product. So I suppose that is a good reason to ask for you're money back.
• Adobe has kicked off a new "switcher" campaign that highlights ten reasons why the professional video editor should switch to Adobe Premiere Pro CS. It's also offering a whopping 50% off on Adobe Creative Suite CS5.5 Production Premium or Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 for those who own Final Cut Pro or Avid Media Composer.

• In a lengthy article on DVCreators.net, Josh Mellicker
• Ubillos returned from vacation and found that Final Cut wasn't ideal for organizing raw footage. From that experience, First Cut was born which would let you import your raw footage and quickly skip through, organizing and building a rough edit. The intention originally was to then export to Final Cut Pro.
• Ubillos was the creator of the first three versions of Adobe Premiere and later developed KeyGrip which was sold to Apple and released as Final Cut Pro.
• Ubillos also write "Final Cut Pro X 1.0 is the beginning of a road, not the end."

• A GM release is typically the final build before a piece of software ships to consumers.
• 9 to 5 Mac is reiterating its earlier claim that Lion is tentatively scheduled to launch on Thursday, July 14th, potentially alongside the updated MacBook Air.

• To recover a Lion installation, and do a clean install or reinstall, you simply reboot while holding the option key

  • This only works if you have installed Lion on that machine and then it grabs info from the recovery partition and downloads the whole thing. Problems??

  • cause otherwise the only normal way of doing a fresh install would be to install snow leopard again. And new macs don't come with that. Obviously they will come with Lion.
    
    But what about a new harddrive? My guess is Apple couldn't care less. If you're geeky enough to change you're hardrive you wont have a problem creating a bootable flash drive.
    
    Doing this they will avoid bringing complexity to normal users.

  • how importante is the price in adoption rate?
    I have to say, we geeks love the fact this is great tech as it works for anything, can be daidy chained and even provide a lot of power and more speed, but...USB 3 will be cheaper and for laptop makers like Sony, Toshiba, Acer, etc, they only care about offering the best priced computer in a given category.

  • Plus, what would they cut out of the phone and leave it still great to use?

  • Would be nice, but again, Apple is not interested in having billions of phones sold, but making the best. 
    Look where that strategy got Nokia.
    
    Also, leaving the iPhone as a premium brand will allow them to charge more and than in itself, in the long run is more successful. 

• Back in March, a report suggested that Apple was preparing to shift production of its A5 system-on-a-chip for the iPad 2 from Samsung to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC)

• Apple and Google being pressured by the Taiwanese government to modify their app sales policies to comply with a law requiring a one-week return and refund window on all purchases.
• At the request of Taipei City Hall, Apple agreed to let their phone users have a trial period of seven days, within which a user can return the app for a full refund.
• it is possible that Apple is simply addressing it through its usual iTunes support procedures and simply granting refunds upon request rather than building any specific refund functionality into the purchasing system.

    Their mistake here was to try and under the iPad in pricing buy compromising on hardware. Stupid.
    
    Worry about making a better product and it will sell.

• • What do we think of an Amazon tablet?
    They've learned a lot from the Kindle on hardware. And they have all the store there. I am excited. I just hoped this was WebOS based?
• DigiTimes reported Thursday that touch panels Wintek, HannStar Display and J Touch may receive orders for a touchscreen tablet from Amazon for the second half of 2011.
