With all the social stuff going on with webpages like comments, digg, etc., iWeb was just way behind. And let's face it. With the free iCloud, Apple had to compromise on some things.

And iWeb is not gonna go anywhere. (explain my use of it)
In the email the iWeb user asked, "Will I need to find an alternative website builder and someone to host my sites?" The alleged response from the CEO of Apple: "Yep."
There is also not a lot of sharing options appart from calendar events. I would say this is a clear decision inside Apple to leave the sharing adn social stuff to the guys that do it best. This would explain the iWeb death, lack of sharing features in photos and twitter integration.
Something that is also missing is videos. Again, not a surprise since this is free.
It's a great sandboxing solution.
Why this makes sense.
it's a balance between ad revenue and eye balls.
