It just sounds like google thinks it is too big to be hurt. Not the case. Look at Microsoft. Eventually that mind set is gonna show up in the end-user experience.

Competition is good. But experience is better. I want the convenience of the AppStore on the Mac. This would confuse and destroy that. I can See Apple blocking this in Lion.
