    • iOS developers Steven Troughton-Smith and TheMudKip have managed to hack the 2nd generation Apple TV to run iOS apps at full resolution.

    • The Wall Street Journal that Kodak could submit the Chapter 11 request as soon as this month or early February. Under bankruptcy protection, the company would reportedly continue to operate while a court would undertake efforts to auction off a set of 1,100 patents.

  • Gossip Land

    • As the report notes, the New York location makes it likely that the announcement has something to do with advertising or publishing. Several of Apple's media and advertising units under senior vice president Eddy Cue have significant presences in New York City, and Cue is also said to be set to play a role in the event.

      • The problem with textbooks is that they are incredibly expensive. The student then sells it on eventually. When they entered the digital format, these kept virtually the same price and or course don't allow for reselling.

    • Steve Jobs' biographer Walter Isaacson has indicated several times that one of Jobs' last goals had been to revolutionize textbooks. According to Isaacson:

      His idea was to hire great textbook writers to create digital versions, and make them a feature of the iPad. In addition, he held meetings with major publishers, such as Pearson Education, about partnering with Apple.

      • I think People are missing the point in this hypothetical TV. IF indeed there is a TV in the pipeline, it will be completely different from anything we've seen. Specially when it comes to controlling it and the way content is distributed.

    • USA Today revealed that the 50-inch television secretly resides in the "locked-down studio" of Ive. The person also reportedly said that Apple is looking to build an LCD television sized 42 inches or larger with built-in Wi-Fi functionality.
    • DigiTimes reported on Friday that the so-called "iPad 3" will launch in March with a high-resolution Retina Display, like is found on the iPhone and iPod touch. That will be followed by an "iPad 4" with "killer applications" set to launch in October.
    • Apple is planning to launch the fourth iPad quickly in October to counter a rumored Google-branded tablet as well as touchscreen devices running Microsoft's Windows 8 operating system. The Taiwanese industry publication said the fourth iPad will feature "much upgraded hardware specifications and integrated applications so as to compete with an array of Android-, Wintel- or WoA (Windows on ARM)-based tablet PCs to be released in the fourth quarter."
      • Apple does not respond directly to any product, they always follow their own thing. If we talked about  a digital keyboard/touchpad/controler thingy for the macs...that's something else.

  • Legal Fights

      • This comes in the same week that Apple has been granted 14 patents regarding the original iPhone OS.

    • The settlement stems from a lawsuit filed by Elan against Apple in 2009, accusing the company of violating two patents related to multi-touch input, and Apple counter-sued the same year.

    - Apple will face a conundrum since they will start to loose both the control and revenue App store normally gives them
    - by the end of year, flash will have turned into Real Media

    - connect with Apple's new maps services that will include a lot of AR
    - Integrated into Siri
    - connects to phone over BT 4
    - perfect marketing (sells brand and iPhones)

    Siri will enhance and expand its intelligence, it will be useable within apps, creating the possibility to control with voice to a larger extent. "update facebook status" "read my latest Twitter post" "what is the current price of my eBay item" etc.

    No longer have both Macbook Air and Macbook, but all will be Macbook Airs and "Macbook Air Pros"
