The Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered in 1947 and this source is based on an exhibit of them at the Library of Congress. For a time scholars, and the average person, were denied access to much of the material contained in the scrolls while an international team studied them. We now see select images of them appearing here. A large U.S. library discovered that they had a complete microfilm copy of the scrolls locked in their vaults and released these to international scholars.
