Kids can create their own avatar, in this virtual world, and travel from island to island exploring, and engage in many different games. The themes of this world are various and range from history and world cultures to time travel and science.
In this free virtual world kids are able to make friends and play various games that help them learn more about money. It also allows students to explore spending money, saving, giving, and budgeting their income.
This is a virtual world that is less classroom oriented and is targeted toward slightly older kids. You must be fourteen years of age or older to register and engage in this world. These adventures have a need for developing practical strategies and using ones critical thinking skills.
This site is very useful when sorting through virtual worlds for children. All of the worlds included on this page are much more educational than the average virtual world!
This site is an excellent source in planning a presentation about virtual worlds. It breaks this down further by separating them into two categories; one for young kids and one for teens. Another perk is that all these "worlds" are safe, fun and educational!

This site was very helpful in preparing for a project about using SketchUp in the classroom. There were several examples to look at for inspiration to help develop an invention using Google Sketchup. I enjoyed that the examples came from people of various ages and ability levels.

For instance, he has a post including the top ten reasons why blogging is beneficial for students, and has created an internet blogging cafe for him and his students.
This is a great website that provides different ways and ideas that adaptive learning can be brought into the classroom. Through examining this, teachers can read about sites like Twitter and find out the most effective tools that can enhance their lessons.
