This terrific site has excellent videos of author interviews with favorite kids' authors and illustrators. These can be used with author studies. It also offers teaching ideas for those who teach reading.
This collection of short educational videos is a wonderful resource for teachers who are looking for a fun way to introduce a variety of natural science topics.
I love this site. It has great Ancient History information for elementary students. Though this may not be helpful in a public school, my school will be studying Ancient Europe next year, and this will be an excellent resource. Vocabulary words are highlighted so that you can get definitions on the spot.
I pulled this site from Jessica's list.
I am not sure how the teachers at our school would feel about this quiz concept, but it might be fun as something different.
Picked this one up from Micki.
Again, this would be very useful for next year's Ancient History research.
Great resource for teaching art. Close enough for a field trip, as well.
Picked up from Dana.
This looks like another site I would like to explore further.
The Library of Congress is a wonderful place to look for primary source material. They have updated their teacher resources and have primary sources organized by theme. They also provide lesson plans to accompany their materials.
This is an animated version of the Bayeux Tapestry. Would be an excellent introduction to European history, or included in an art history course.
This is an academic search engine that only accesses sites that have been recommended as safe by teachers and librarians.
Wow! More than 700,000 images digitized from the New York Public Library's vast collections.
At Footnote.com you'll be able to view, save, and share original images of historical documents available for the first time on the internet. National Archive Documents now available online: Orginal source documents, source documents, historical documents, archives, history, project blue book, southern claims,Pennsylvania Archives, National Archives, NARA, genealogy, family history, revolutionary war, civil war, vietnam war, and other primary sources. This website would be ideal for secondary Social Studies/History teachers to use as a source for supplemental materials, and it would also benefit students to explore and examine primary and secondary documents without ever leaving the classroom!
