Mural Painting - In the case of mural painting, the spray gun lends itself simply because of the scale of the work.  Whenever a large, continuous area must be covered with paint, the spray gun should definitely be considered (again, the HVLP in particular because it applies paint with a minimum amount of overspray, so you can work indoors with fewer problems).  For murals, artist's acrylic colors are often used, and these are easily thinned for use with spray guns.  For reduction of these colors it's recommended that you use a 50/50 mixture of water and acrylic gloss medium.  This solution of water/medium helps to maintain the elasticity and adhesion of the paint.
