Nightmare educational site that doesn't seem to have been updated ever. Kids can not use this site easily as the search engine on the site doesn't show the most obvious link first.
This site, while useful for "worksheet" type work, is hard to navigate, the search is not very intuitive, and the organization is confusing at best.

Boring website without any multimedia components. There are so many ways they could spruce this up, even if all they added was a "read to me" option.
Good web design should include accommodations for for visually and hearing impaired viewers. This site doesn't have alternative text for any of its pictures so visually impaired visitors would not be able to use the page the way normal viewers could.
Good site with a lot of great information. In North Carolina, rocks and minerals are covered extensively in the 4th grade. 10 year olds are used to highly interactive games and experiences and there is nothing very interesting or engaging about this site. I know I would have to "make" them read the info and it would be a test of wills.
When the images are turned off on this webpage, you quickly realize how little there is on it!
The same government that wants teachers to wow kids with science give us this site filled with good information but extremely lack luster interactivity. This could be so cool, but alas, it falls short.
Color blindness accessibility test shows that this site is good for all three types of color blindness.
Accessability for the visually impaired is good on this site. All pictures have relevant alternative text.
Looks like a cool site but the navigation is not good at all. No matter which category you choose, the search results are the same. I can see elementary kids trying to locate specific information a couple of times and then giving up.

Some of these websites have good information, but miss the target with interactivity, engagement, or being relevant for the targeted audience, i.e. curriculum generally covered in 3rd grade is written on a 9th grade reading level.
