    -"The Seattle-born guitarist had already revolutionized the blues roots, amplified fury and orchestral future of the electric guitar on three worldwide-hit albums."

    -Electric Lady, the first major commercial studio in New York, created by Jimi Hendrix and his manager, was a historic enterprise. For Hendrix, it was also a refuge from all the chaos. "Forty years later, Electric lady is still open for business, at the same location."

    -died in London in his sleep. official cause of death was "inhalation of vomit due to barbiturate intoxication."

    - Jimi Hendrix said, "I want a big band full of competent musicians that I can conduct and write for. And with the music we will paint pictures of Earth and space, so that the listener can be taken somewhere."

    -"Hendrix left behind a wealth of music that continues to astonish; pivotal and exciting, previously unheard recordings are still being unearthed four decades later."

    -All of Hendrix's albums became top five in America, Electric Lady land was number one.

    -He was born on November 27, 1942, in Seattle. He was originally called Johnny Allen Hendrix, but his father renamed him James Marshall Hendrix when he was three years old.

    -His dad bought him his first guitar at the age of thirteen

    -The left-handed guitar player could play the guitar upside down. He was initially influenced by the blues but overtime developed his own style of music.

    -His first single "Hey Joe" was released in December 1966, and was soon in UK's top charts. (number six).

    -"In 1967 Hendrix played the U.S. for the first time at the Monterey Pop Festival, burning his guitar at the end of his act to the stunned amazement of the audience."

    -Jimi Hendrix experimented with his guitar like no one had, he used the amplifier, phaser, wah wah and chorus pedals to enhance his performance.

    -He could play the guitar with his teeth or behind his head, sometimes smashed the guitar at the end of a show and then light it on fire.

    -"He created a roaring, furious guitar style that was simultaneously rhythm and lead, both deafeningly loud and imaginatively melodic."

    -Hendrix was in the band "The Jimi Hendrix Experience" but left it to a more blues-influenced ensemble- "Band of Gypsies"

    -Most successful moment was in 1969 when he played live at Woodstock, the most memorable song being "The Star-Spangled Banner". "The three-day event brought more than 300,000 rock-and-roll fans peacefully together on a small farm outside of Woodstock, New York."

    -Jimi Hendrix died on September 18, 1970, at the age of 27, from an overdose of pills.

    -Taught himself how to play guitar with a broom whilst imitating other famous rockstars.

    -Practiced every spare minute when he was in the army.

    -The Jimi Hendrix Experience released "Are You Experienced?" in 1967. - great success.

    -Could play just as well with the guitar behind his back, or by using his teeth on the strings. During a show he would set his guitar on fire for the finale.

    -In 1969 he played "The Star-Spangled Banner" live at Woodstock. "With the Vietnam War raging, people read deep meanings into his blistering interpretation."

    -Died at the 27 due to drug related problems.

    -"Few disagree that, during his short reign as a superstar, Hendrix was the most influential rock guitarist ever."

    • For many of us, Jimi Hendrix was truly the “High Priest of Rock and Roll.”   He also was the first multi-ethnic person to become famous.

    • Before acquiring his first real  instrument, he "played" guitar on a broom and on a  one-stringed ukulele.
    • At last Al got his son a guitar, and the  twelve-year-old Jimi began to teach himself to play. Jimi restrung the  guitar upside down—as a left-hander, he was forced to turn the  instrument in the opposite direction from how it is usually played,  which left the strings at the bottom unless he rearranged them.
