Our Space: Being a Responsible Citizen of the Digital World
For most young people today, engagement with new digital media is a routine aspect of life. Through computers, mobile phones, and other handheld devices, youth can blog, tweet, participate in social networks like Facebook, play massive multi-player games, use online information sources, and share videos, stories, music, and art they’ve created. Important skills and knowledge can be gained from such activities, but there are also risks. For example, young people may only rarely consider what it means to be an ethical, socially responsible “citizen” on the Internet.
Welcome to the Digital Citizenship Website
Digital Citizenship is a concept which helps teachers, technology leaders and parents to understand what students/children/technology users should know to use technology appropriately. Digital Citizenship is more than just a teaching tool; it is a way to prepare students/technology users for a society full of technology. Too often we are seeing students as well as adults misusing and abusing technology but not sure what to do. The issue is more than what the users do not know but what is considered appropriate technology usage.

While many people think plagiarism is more prevalent in the online classroom than at a traditional school, this may not be true. However, some degree of plagiarism takes place in many different educational settings—despite educators’ attempts to stamp them out.
No matter what type of school you attend, it’s important to know the definition of plagiarism. The more you know about it, the easier it will be for you to avoid doing it by mistake.
