The greenhouse effect is a necessary phenomenon that keeps all Earth's heat from escaping to the outer atmosphere. Without the natural greenhouse effect it is certain that life on Earth would be difficult to sustain.

      • The greenhouse effect is what keeps the earth at it's temperature. It occurs when heat is trapped in the atmosphere by gases. It prevents heat from being released into the outer atmosphere. With global warming, temperatures would drop at an alarming rate over the generations. The earth would then become an ice planet. Too much of the greenhouse gases released in the earths atmosphere increases this greenhouse effect, which can lead to rising temperatures and change in precipitation. These life changing gases include; methane, carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, and other lethal gases that are released into our atmosphere. These result from pollution of factories and industries mostly.

    • When many people think of global warming, their first concern is the possible rise of sea levels. With a large number of the world's cities in coastal areas, this is a significant problem. There are two major causes of rising sea levels. First, extra water is produced when ice melts. Secondly, the natural expansion of sea water as it becomes warmer. The range of sea ice around both poles continues to shrink, as it melts. Even with the level of greenhouse gases present today, the earth may warm enough in the next 50 years or so to completely melt the sea ice located on the poles.
      • A possible effect of global warming is the rise of sea levels. This is mostly caused because the ice melts and thus causes sea level to get higher, or the heat causes expansion of the sea. This could be dangerous because many of the sea organisms might die, buildings and roads will gradually get flooded, fresh water might reserve. Global warming might also increase hurricanes that are more severe because higher sea level is predicted in the future.

    • So what is global warming and how does it effect the environment? It's the gradual increase in temperatures caused by the emission of gases into earth's atmosphere. The gases are caused by the burning of fossil fuels which releases toxic gases in the atmosphere. This created a hole in the ozone layer and the sun's heat penetrates the earths atmosphere abnormally.
    • Answer: Global warming is the gradual increase in global temperatures caused by the emission of gases that trap the sun's heat in the Earth's atmosphere. Gases that contribute to global warming include carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxides, chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), and halocarbons (the replacements for CFCs). The carbon dioxide emissions are primarily caused by the use of fossil fuels for energy.

    • Vast majority of scientists believe global warming is a fact.
      • Global warming is causing a controversy all around the world. Some people think that it's a mere myth, but the inconvenient truth is that it's a serious issue that all people should take seriously, since this has a great effect on our future and other generations. This trail fire is to awaken people's minds and hopefully accept this fact and the seriousness of this issue and try to help prevent anymore damage it's causing on people and our precious environment.

      • There are many things peopke can do to help stop global warming.
People should recycle the things the use. They should lower their thermostats, use air conditioners less frequently, walk instead of using the car, help grow more plants, take showers instead of baths. So it's those daily things that you never think about that may help a whole world.

    • Al Gore
      • Al Gore used to be vice president under president Clinton. He is now doing his best to aware people of what's happening to our world. he wants people to learn the truth about global warming and aware people of the consequences of their actions and pollutions. He travels around the world giving speeches in different countries. He also filmed a documentary called "The Inconvienient Truth" which shows Al Gore's opinion on global warming.

    • e on the bay is melting an average of three weeks earlier than in the mid-1970s. This forces polar bears to retreat further inland before they have been able to replenish their reserves of fat by feeding on seal pups, which live on the ice.
      • The most affected species by global warming is the polar bear. Because of global warming, ice is melting an average of 3 weeks more than the 70's. this is putting polar bears in risk since these melt-downs leave the bears stranded on shore for long periods. It also causes them to lose fat which affects reproduction and the loss to produce milk. Scientists calculated and average 15% drop in birthrates.

    • Longer ice-free periods during the artic summer leave polar bears stranded onshore for longer periods. The delay in freeze-up causes polar bears to lose critical fat reserves affecting reproduction and the ability of pregnant females to produce enough milk for their cubs. Scientists can already document a 15 percent drop in birth rates.
    • Global Warming Has Forced Animals to Evolve Already
    • Some species of animals are changing genetically in order to adapt to rapid climate change within just a few generations, scientists believe.
      • Global warming isn't only affecting us people, it's also affecting the animals. Their genes are changing so they can adapt to the changes and surroundings that are happening due to global warming. Small species are changing their behaviour so have they have a larger chance of survival, larger species, however, can't adapt or change genetically because they can't reproduce as fast as the smaller ones.
