• Early education

   

  All 3- and 4-year-olds are now guaranteed a free, part-time (12½ hours per  week, 38 weeks per year), early-education place. T

• Sharing information in a timely and accurate way is an essential part of  delivering better services to children, young people, their families and carers.  Sometimes it can help to save lives. Practitioners at different agencies should  work together and share information appropriately for the safety and well-being  of children. It is important to understand and respect legislation and ethics  surrounding the confidentiality and security of information.

• Children Act 2004: Guidance on the 'duty to cooperate'

   

  The Children Act 2004 provides the legal underpinning for the transformation  of children's services as set out in the Every  Child Matters: Change for Children programme. Section 10 of the Act  provides the statutory basis for Children's Trusts (the duty to cooperate).

    We have now published an updated version of  this guidance, which sets out how to work together to safeguard  and promote the welfare of children.   
  • Local safeguarding children boards (LSCBs)
    
    Every  local area now needs to have an LSCB in place. Guidance on LSCBs was  published earlier in the year and now forms chapter 3 of  Working together to safeguard children.
