Movement is the central means of expression in my work. The changing structures that appear move in the transitional area between chaos and order, between variability and uniformity, between volatility and consistency. As a reconciliation of opposites.
"Staab Studios is an eclectic art studio with a flair and passion for natural forms both past and present. Our work is found in private homes, museums and magazines, visitor centers and books."
"Japanese artist Riusuke Fukahori paints three-dimensional goldfish using a complex process of poured resin. The fish are painted meticulously, layer by layer, the sandwiched slices revealing slightly more about each creature, similar to the function of a 3D printer."
""I grew up in a house where there was a studio in the basement," says Ulman. "I'd be in my pajamas with those little feet and my dad would give me these giant work gloves. I'd hold parts for him to weld together. I'd be yelling, 'It's getting hot,' and he'd respond, 'Don't let go!'""
"U-Ram Choe is a Korean artist born in 1970 in Seoul. He is best known for his meticulously designed kinetic sculptures made of acrylic and stainless steel, each animated by robotics developed and programmed by the artist. Often equipped with motion sensors, Choe’s beautiful mechanic creatures react elegantly or alarmingly to visitors’ movements around them. They are accompanied by texts that tell the story of their imagined origins and evolutionary histories."
"sPerf aims to provide an easy way to create and share test cases, comparing the performance of different JavaScript snippets by running benchmarks."
"Demonstrating the performance hit caused by nested functions."
"Woolbuddy began as an artist’s desire to find a unique collection of toys for his newborn daughter. After searching for months and coming up empty handed, he decided that it was time for him to create his own collection of premium handcrafted stuffed animals that reflected the imaginative and magical world that he wanted to share with his daughter. By combining his love for needle felting and his desire to make his daughter something that she would remember for years to come, Woolbuddy was born."
My goal for these sculptures was to make something that would reference video games and just be fun to be surrounded by. They’re what I imagined happened after every Space Invaders game I played ended — the few remaining invaders make it to the surface and then, you know, hang around. In victory.
"The Ferrous Wheel is a kinetic sculpture in which a series of magnets draws a circle on a sheet of paper with iron filings. The iron filings make different marks based on the strength of the magnetic field that holds them in place. As the magnets revolve, the friction from the paper causes the iron to collect in a tray at the base of the sculpture. The magnets pull more iron from the tray on each revolution. "
"Korean sculptor Cha Jong-Rye works with wood as if it were clay or paint. She layers and sands hundreds of delicate wood pieces to create pockmarked canvases, threatening beds of thorns, or wall-sized recreations of crumpled cloth napkins. "
