Rin Kim's List: F/J Kim, Rin: Korea 2020

  • Mar 04, 11

This site talks about the different kind of religions of South Korea in the past and the present. I put this in my list because it had lots of information of how Shamanism, Daoism, Buddhism, Christianity, and new religions were used in South Korea long time ago, and how they developed now. It gave me some tips on how the religions can develop as time passes. This site isn't very attractive to my age group because the site only contains words and no pictures, which makes it kind of boring to read.

This site is about the past customs of South Korea and how it changed to the present day. I think this should be included in the list becuase it gives so much detailed information of each custom of South Korea like food, economy, trade, family, and much more. Plus, it even includes some information on technology and beliefs. This site can also help to answer the unit question because by knowing how South Korea was and changed through the present day, it can help to predict how the future will be like. But I don't think this site is very attractive because there are mostly words in it with only 3-5 pictures.

This site is about the internet technology in South Korea right now. I put this in my list because it showed me how significant South Korea technology is. It also answers the unit question by telling how technology is evolving very fast compared to the US. This site isn't attractive because it has no visual images but only words in it. But I think the site helps it easy to read because it is organized in many paragraphs.

    • While South Korea leads in the rollout of broadband, the United States --  supposedly the world's technology leader -- comes in no better than No. 13,  according to experts. About 76 percent of households have broadband in South  Korea. The figure is 30 percent in the United States.

This is the 3rd page of the article "The future is South Korea"

    • One of South Korea's nine new technology sectors is a computerized appliance,  called a ubiquitous robotic companion, which you could carry with you to connect  to the Internet wherever you are.

Whether or not these applications will be popular, it is clear that South  Korea has created an environment where technology development is very fast.
