The sheer volume of IP traffic has surged in recent years, driven primarily by a flood of IP video—and this growing wave of video traffic shows no signs of slowing. In fact, video is expected to account for nearly half of all Internet traffic by 2012.
At the same time, network operators are moving forward with aggressive multi-screen convergence strategies that will enable them to deliver video beyond just TV sets, to broadband connected PCs, mobile phones and other networked consumer electronics devices.
Whether it's Internet video, cable video or IPTV, network operators face a mounting challenge of distributing, streaming and managing massive amounts of IP video traffic across a growing number of devices.
